About the project

Sihltal Zürich Uetliberg Bahn SZU is upgrading its underground station at Zürich HB — the terminus of the S4 and S10 lines, around 13 metres below Bahnhofplatz and, with roughly 40,000 passengers boarding and alighting every day, one of the busiest stations in the ZVV area. The some thirty-year-old station is being brought in line with Swiss accessibility law (BehiG) and with the passenger numbers now expected: the platform is raised from P46 to P55, extended eastwards and given a third exit, while the two existing exits are rebuilt. Each exit gets a fixed stair and an up escalator; the Sihl and Limmat exits also get one going down. Because the platform grows, the smoke-extraction system is redesigned entirely — along with the suspended ceiling, the technical installations and the power supply, all at the end of their service life. Work runs from June 2025 to December 2026, and the station is fully closed from the end of April 2026 to mid-October 2026.

The right setup for a project like this
A station rebuild beneath the city with short night windows and a full closure: compact cameras that record every stage with its date, and live access for everyone involved — this is how we would equip a project of this kind:

The result
A build like this — night windows, a fixed six-month closure, no space on site — is exactly where continuous documentation and live access earn their keep.
